A poem #73 – It is love that has brought us here

We slip into the river like the night slips over the land,
the scent of your wet hair fills my nostrils as well as any scent can.
I turn to face you and catch your eyes with mine
clinging to each other desperately and renouncing the constraints of time.
It is love that has brought us here
beneath the stars to drown.
It is love that has brought us here
with me in a robe and you in a crown.
